چکیده

Foodborne infections are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in human populations. Risk assessment and public health control measures could be greatly enhanced by establishing an accurate relationship between ingested dose and infection probability, and defining minimum infectious doses. In this paper, a novel neural network model is proposed for dose–response of foodborne pathogens. The proposed model assumes a three-layer structure with a fast back-propagation learning algorithm. The model predictions for four available datasets from the literature are compared using six statistical models: log-normal, log-logistic, simple exponential, flexible exponential, Beta-Poisson and Weibull-Gamma. The methods of least square error, maximum likelihood and correlation coefficient are used for the comparison study that shows the neural network model does better than the statistic models. Predictions of dose–response for multiple types of pathogens and dose–response with different host age and gender using neural network models are discussed with simulations. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. A Comparison of Regression and Neural Network Based for Multiple Response Optimization in a Real Case Study of Gasoline Production Process

Most of existing researches for multi response optimization are based on regression analysis. However, the artificial neural network can be applied for the problem. In this paper, two approaches are proposed by consideration of both methods. In the first approach, regression model of the controllable factors and S/N ratio of each response has been achieved, then a fuzzy programming has been app...

INTERVAL ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK BASED RESPONSE OF UNCERTAIN SYSTEM SUBJECT TO EARTHQUAKE MOTIONS

Earthquakes are one of the most destructive natural phenomena which consist of rapid vibrations of rock near the earth’s surface. Because of their unpredictable occurrence and enormous capacity of destruction, they have brought fear to mankind since ancient times. Usually the earthquake acceleration is noted from the equipment in crisp or exact form. But in actual practice those data may not be...

Response surface methodology and artificial neural network modeling of reactive red 33 decolorization by O3/UV in a bubble column reactor

In this work, response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) were used to predict the decolorization efficiency of Reactive Red 33 (RR 33) by applying the O3/UV process in a bubble column reactor. The effects of four independent variables including time (20-60 min), superficial gas velocity (0.06-0.18 cm/s), initial concentration of dye (50-150 ppm), and pH (3-11) were i...

Comparison between artificial neural network and radiobiological modeling for prediction of thyroid gland complications of after radiotherapy

Introduction: Hypothyroidism is one of the frequent side effects of radiotherapy of head and neck cancers, breast cancer, and Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is recommended to estimate the normal tissue complication probability of thyroid gland using radiobiological modeling during treatment planning. Moreover, the use of artificial neural network is also proposed as a new method for t...
